Yes, yes…Chap Goh Meh was like 2/3 weeks ago?? And I’m only posting this now? I’ve been busy for the past 2 weeks…tests, assignments…I’m drowning in them. So, anyways, I went to Gurney Drive (think that’s what the area’s called) for Chap Goh Meh to watch people throw oranges into the sea. Orange throwing’s normally done by single girls if I’m not mistaken, who hope to wed/get a good partner. They would write their name, telephone number and stuff on the orange and throw it out to sea and the oranges would be scooped out by boys in boats. According to my aunt, there’s a competition where the boat with the most oranges would be declared the winner lol but we didn’t get to see that. It was still too early I guess…
There were performances by the Persatuan Peranakan Cina…they had this Dondang Sayang thing going on where there’s singing and dancing. We didn’t stay there too long though…there were quite a lot of people, lots of foreigners…but then again, the Gurney area always has a high concentration of foreigners compared to the rest of the island…
Anyways, I took some pics of the place ^_^
These are some kind of cardboard cutouts floating in the sea…lol
Oranges floating in the water…there’s not that many yet as it was still early…
Horrible shot…this fella’s head is in the way…as you can see, there’s people in boats in the background and again, the cardboard cutouts floating…
Random shot of the atmosphere
The Dondang Sayang bus…they had another one where they took tourists out around the area sightseeing or something…
Sorry for the horrible quality of some of the pics...it was hard to take pics in the dark...had to digitally edit it to make it brighter...
For something completely random, somehow I find this amusing…(maybe it’s cos I’m easily amused lol) It’s from my Organic Chemistry book btw (which is falling apart as we speak…stupid book) Read the part highlighted in blue...haha vampires!
That’s all for today I guess…have a great weekend y’all while I answer the call that is thermodynamics…eurgh T.T
Oh, and this is a really good song. Amy recommended it to me. It’s called Danny’s Song by Anne Murray & Martina McBride.
