Random Ramblings

I’m sleepy. So so sleepy…and it’s only around 8.30pm. Tons of stuff to do…oh woe is meeee…woe is meeeeeee…equations to derive, stats test next week, catch up on Organic Chemistry and the list goes on… And just when I thought the oral test for English is over…Mr. Merann told us there would be a job interview thingy that we have to do that’s like 15% of the grade. *bangs head on desk* Isn’t the presentation thing enough??? Stupid syllabus…next week we’ll be starting on non linear passages or something. It means getting information from histograms, pie charts, bar charts and graphs. Mundane stuff. And this is the English for Scientific Purposes course. I’m completely terrified of Mr. Merann’s unpredictable mood swings. O___O One minute he’s all nice and funny, and the next he’s super scary. My friend was talking when he was about to let us off for the day, and then suddenly, Mr. Merann looked mad and said “………………You can finish your conversation later. Have an ounce of respect, how ‘bout that.”  O_O

On another note, the weather’s lovely today. ^_^ Cloudy and drizzling on and off…such a nice change from the scorching heat.

Didn’t get a chance to watch the Oscars, which was on Monday. =( I heard and read that Hugh Jackman did a splendid job with the opening number and that little musical section he did with Beyonce, Amanda Seyfried and Zanessa… The Oscar winners were pretty predictable this year…with Slumdog snagging 8 awards. I really wanna hear the award winning song, ‘Jai Ho’ though…tried downloading it but the Internet was just plain crappy. Boo. Benjamin Button didn’t win anything, save for 3 awards in the technical area out of the 13 nominations it received. I thought the movie was pretty touching…though it was a bit slow at times. Tilda Swinton managed to end up on the Worst Dressed List again, in my opinion. She may be a good actress, but her outfits are just plain weird!

PS: Anyone know where to find The Boy From Oz soundtrack, starring Hugh Jackman? I’ve been searching everywhere for it…

Super Late Chap Goh Meh Post

Yes, yes…Chap Goh Meh was like 2/3 weeks ago?? And I’m only posting this now? I’ve been busy for the past 2 weeks…tests, assignments…I’m drowning in them. So, anyways, I went to Gurney Drive (think that’s what the area’s called) for Chap Goh Meh to watch people throw oranges into the sea. Orange throwing’s normally done by single girls if I’m not mistaken, who hope to wed/get a good partner. They would write their name, telephone number and stuff on the orange and throw it out to sea and the oranges would be scooped out by boys in boats. According to my aunt, there’s a competition where the boat with the most oranges would be declared the winner lol but we didn’t get to see that. It was still too early I guess…

There were performances by the Persatuan Peranakan Cina…they had this Dondang Sayang thing going on where there’s singing and dancing. We didn’t stay there too long though…there were quite a lot of people, lots of foreigners…but then again, the Gurney area always has a high concentration of foreigners compared to the rest of the island…

Anyways, I took some pics of the place ^_^

IMG_1177

These are some kind of cardboard cutouts floating in the sea…lol

IMG_1179

Oranges floating in the water…there’s not that many yet as it was still early…

IMG_1176

Horrible shot…this fella’s head is in the way…as you can see, there’s people in boats in the background and again, the cardboard cutouts floating…

IMG_1178

Random shot of the atmosphere

IMG_1180The Dondang Sayang bus…they had another one where they took tourists out around the area sightseeing or something…

Sorry for the horrible quality of some of the pics...it was hard to take pics in the dark...had to digitally edit it to make it brighter...

For something completely random, somehow I find this amusing…(maybe it’s cos I’m easily amused lol) It’s from my Organic Chemistry book btw (which is falling apart as we speak…stupid book) Read the part highlighted in blue...haha vampires!

That’s all for today I guess…have a great weekend y’all while I answer the call that is thermodynamics…eurgh T.T

Oh, and this is a really good song. Amy recommended it to me. It’s called Danny’s Song by Anne Murray & Martina McBride.

v2.0!

I’m sick of my previous layout loading halfway and being all weird. Did a revamp and here we are! Sugar Quill v2.0 ^_^ I really hope this loads much faster than the previous one…I’ve gotten so many complaints about how slow it is… =_=”

I really should be sleeping…instead I’m procrastinating…*sigh* Mr. Merann wants us to write a short essay about at least 2 successful people and compare their success stories, similarities and differences (I have no idea how to do that part!) and also the causes and factors of their success… Oh joy. I have decided to choose the great JK Rowling and the 2nd one I’m really not sure…so I cincai picked one and ended up choosing Jennifer Hudson. Winning an Academy Award on her first movie and winning a Grammy’s considered successful, no? Gosh, I’d feel really stupid if everyone else ends up picking some scientist or something that I’ve never heard of…but oh well, JKR rules!

Yay for v2.0! =D

3. At the end of the post the player then tags 5 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves a comment, letting them know they got tagged and to ask them to play and read your blog.

Forgetfulness…not?

I have forgotten my Streamyx password…and I had to ask Audrey what my Skype ID was. Gosh. No, I don’t think I’m OLD.

I always had Windows save the password for me for Streamyx, so after my laptop got reformatted (yes, it’s back!) everything was gone. And somehow I couldn’t go online using my desktop cos the modem was being PMS-y…hmmph

>.<

And now for something completely different (lol this line was inspired by Angelyn) the diagnosis for my laptop was a blocked partition. What’s that??? It says ‘blocked partition, need reformat’ on the bill. Cost my dad RM60…cos it wasn’t a hardware problem and therefore wasn’t eligible for the warranty thing… T.T at least I don’t have to send it to the factory which will take aeons…

I have been tagged as a bowl of dessert on Facebook by the lovely Lee Huey Ying. Haha

That’s all for today I guess…I need to get started on my assignment…it’s like a thorn in my side. And I feel guilty going online right now…

I have the finale medley from Moulin Rouge stuck in my head…it won’t go away!
